Travel Essentials - Makeup Palettes

Hi everyone!

My post last week was on travel essentials for bath & body - this is a post on makeup palettes that are great for travel.  While out of town recently, I used ones from Urban Decay, Lorac, and Stila that worked great together, but can also be used on their own.

Stila's Portrait of a Perfect Eye Palette
This was part of Stila's 2013 Holiday Collection.  I'm not sure if it is still available but there are similar palettes out there if your heart is still set on this one.  (I can make some suggestions for alternatives - let me know)  It is a slim palette of eyeshadows in all neutral shades, both warm and cool toned.  Take a look at how pretty this is:

From left to right the shades are: Parchment, Organza, Vintage, Linen, Antique, and Rosewood

 Love the little quote!!!

And here is the back!

This palette is teeny-tiny so it is very good for travel.  As with all Stila eyeshadows, the pigmention is amazing and a little goes a long way.  They are very buttery in consistency, so be sure to tap off a little before you apply with your brush to avoid fall out.

Onto the next one...

Lorac's Pro To Go Eye/Cheek Palette
I had my eye on this one for a very long time before I bit the bullet and finally bought it.  This palette contains eyeshadows, along with two blushes and a bronzer.  You can pack the Pro to Go with some mascara and lipstick, and you will have your full face of make up.

See what I mean? A full face of makeup in one handy-dandy palette!

What I like most about this palette are the options.  Options galore!!!!  For example, a very simple eye for a "no make up" make up look would be just applying some of your own face powder or foundation on your lids up to the brow bone to even out the skin tone, then apply some of the bronzer in the crease to make your eyes pop.  Use the highlighter shades at the highest point of your arch under your brows and in the inner corners of your eyes to make yourself look more alive and awake.  Finish off with a light wash of the pink blush on the cheeks, some lip balm or gloss, and off you go to conquer the world!!! Or go to lunch with a friend - whatever.

It goes without saying that you can create some more dramatic looks with this palette as well.  Check out Youtube for more tutorials and ideas.

Here are some close ups of the eyeshadows and blushes/bronzers:

This palette is part of Lorac's permanent collection and it is available at Ulta in stores and Sephora online.  Lorac's Pro to Go Eye/Cheek Palette costs about $38.00 - a bargain considering that you are getting four eyeshadows, two highlighters (you can use those to highlight on your face too), two blushes and a bronzer.  Try going to the drugstore and picking all of that up for no more than $38.00 - I think it would be hard to do and not compromise on the quality of the product at the same time.

And last, but not least....

Urban Decay's Naked Basics Palette
About a year (or two?) ago, Urban Decay released a Naked Basics palette that is basically the Naked palette on a diet of kale dust and lemon water ala Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables.

Lighting be damned on the "Faint" shade which is making it look warmer than it is, these colors are on the cooler end of the spectrum.  But you can still get an array of looks from simple to very smoky and dramatic with these six shades.  I love "Venus" in the inner corners of my eyes, and I like to mix "W.O.S." (which stands for "Walk of Shame" - heh heh) and "Naked 2" for my lids.  This palette is $27 and is available at Sephora, Ulta, and wherever else Urban Decay is sold.

Just an FYI - I purchased all of these products with my own funds.  I did not receive any compensation in exchange for these reviews.  These are my honest opinions on these products.  Cheers!
